It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Lee Hicks, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this world on Monday, September 14th, 2026. He was a beloved resident of Cartersville, GA, and left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Born on Saturday, February 3rd, 1968, Gary graced this world with his gentle spirit and unwavering kindness. He spent 58 years filling the lives of those around him with love and laughter.

A dedicated cab driver for 25 years, Gary was well-known and respected in his community. He shared countless miles with his special friend, Tony Collum, ensuring every passenger reached their destination safely. His work was not just a job but a testament to his caring nature and warm heart.

Gary possessed a love for the simple joys it offered. He delighted in relaxing at home watching his favorite TV shows such as Fear Factor, American Pickers, Storage Wars, and Discovery. An ardent sports enthusiast, Gary was a devoted fan of baseball, football, and racing, with a particular fondness for Kyle Busch, his favorite racing driver.

Gary leaves behind his loving wife, Sharon Hicks, and two sons, Brian Southern (Sheila) and Kevin Ray. He also cherished his grandchildren—Kyle, Hunter, Dalton, Allie, Kayla, Camden, Tiera, and Paisley—and great-grandchildren, Kailani Ray and Lettie James Southern. His legacy stretches further to great-great-grandchildren, Clayton, Brooks, and Ledger.

He is also survived by his sister, Wanda Hicks, his adopted sister Amelia Huskins, and numerous nieces and nephews, including Chris Dutto, Dustin Hicks, Keely Dutto, Peggy, Lynn, and Brenda. His charming stories and warm wisdom will also be missed by his uncle Billy Ray and sister-in-law Diane Knight (Roger).

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Sarah Ann Hicks, and several aunts and uncles who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms into eternity.

A memorial gathering to celebrate the life and legacy of Gary Lee Hicks will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 18th, 2026, at Chesney Farm, located at 100 Cassandra View Dr. SW, Cartersville, GA 30120. Friends and family are invited to join in remembrance of a life well-lived.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Parnick Jennings Funeral Home. Gary’s warmth, humor, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will be eternally missed.
