Mr. Gene Brownlow, age 70, of 4822 Alabama Highway, Rome passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2004 at the residence.Mr. Brownlow was born on September 21, 1934 in Floyd County, Georgia the son of the late Gordon Lee Brownlow and Velma Lee Keith Brownlow. He had spent all of his life in Floyd County and was a member of the Pisgah Baptist Church, a member of the Coosa Masonic Lodge #622 F & AM and of the Low Twelve Club. Mr. Brownlow owned and operated his own trucking business for thirty years. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Brownlow in May 2002.Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Mozelle Sprayberry Brownlow, to whom he was married October 18, 1952; three children, Sandra, Joseph and Shelia; one brother, Ernest Brownlow; two sisters, Edna Momon and Shirley Evans; Six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive.Funeral services will be held at Pisgah Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 21st at 2:00 pm with Rev Jerry Dudley and Rev. Rayford Davenport officiating. Interment will follow at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Mr. Brownlow will lie-in-state at the church from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour.The family will receive friends tonight (Monday) at Pisgah Baptist Church from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.Pallbearers are asked to meet at the church by 1:30 pm Tuesday and include the following, Jerrell Tolbert, Calvin Tolbert, Jeff Tolbert, Jimmy Sprayberry, B.J.Pace, Charlie Waits and Grady Cromer.Please join the family in honoring Mr. Brownlow's life by visiting www.jenningsfuneralhome.com and post your tributes and share your memories.The Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home, 2542 Shorter Ave., Rome has charge of the funeral services for Mr. Gene Brownlow.
