Gene Camp, (72), of Taylorsville, Georgia passed away on March 27, 2023.
Gene was born to Anderson and Martha Camp, on May 31, 1950, in Marietta, GA. He attended McEachern High School.
Gene defined himself as a "water professional," serving as the Water Superintendent of Bartow County Georgia for 32 years. His work was central to so many of his professional and personal connections, and he was grateful for the colleagues and friends in the water industry with whom he worked to provide clean and safe drinking water to Bartow County, the Southeast and the world. He proudly helped to develop the Georgia Peer Review Program, was a charter member of the Water Buffalos (supporting Water for People) and he loved being involved with Honor Flight (escorting WWII veterans to Washington DC), among his many other charitable endeavors. He will be remembered as one of those people who you could always call on when in need, whether for a household water leak, fry cook for a fundraiser, or as a planner for a major project.
Gene is survived by his wife Sharon, daughter Rebecca, and grandson Zach. He is also survived by his sisters Pat Trout, Mary Ellen Chastain and Debbie Summerville.
Gene's family and friends will host a Celebration of Life at Laurel Hall at Pine Acres Retreat on April 15th, 2023 at 2:00 pm.
