Gene Charles

Edward Eugene "Gene" Charles, 68, of 3295 Hwy. 411, White went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at his residence. Born September 2, 1939 in Kingston, he was the son of the late Bruce Edward Charles and the late Ruth L. Herod Charles. Gene retired from Dan River Carpet as a fixer after more than 20 years of work. He and his wife were charter members of Bread of Life Church. Gene is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sara Tilley Charles; his daughter, Rita Faye Charles; his sister, Nancy Charles; and his brother, Johnny Charles.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Renee and Dennis Huskins of White and Linda and Tony Boyd of Cartersville; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Eunice and David King of Adairsville, Vickie and Bobby Lowery of White, Suedy Harris of Cartersville, and Wanda and Gary Fowler of Cartersville; his grandchildren, Stephanie and Tim Nichelson of White, Candice Boyd of Cartersville, and Colby and Heather Boyd of Cartersville; his great-grandchildren, Eli, Ryan, Mandy, and Cody; his great-great-grandchild, Dakota; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2007 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Dennis Huskins and Rev. Max Maybern officiating. Burial will follow in the White Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Danny King, Mike Jones, Adrian Harris, Phillip Lowery, Coty Henson, Shaun Jones, and Eddie Charles. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Lee, Buz Womack, and Bobby Boyd. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers are requested to be at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. on Saturday.

The family will receive friends from 5 – 9 p.m. on Friday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
