Mr. Gene Gore, 87, of Cartersville, died Sunday, January 10, 2016 at his residence. Born December 11, 1928 in Bartow County, he was a son to the late Mr. Charles Connell Gore and the late Mrs. Ora Lee Fowler Gore.
Mr. Gore owned and operated Gene Gore Construction Company in which he built numerous homes and commercial buildings in Bartow County. Gene witnessed the entire construction of the Allatoona Dam Project. He was an avid bird hunter, enjoyed fishing and attended Raccoon Creek Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Francis Ward, Mary Roberts, Ruth Satterfield, Geneva Nation; brother, Charles Junior Gore.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Marian Tidwell Gore of Cartersville; daughter, Charlotte Gore of Cartersville; sons, Ronald Gore and Lynn, Ernie Gore and Tera, Gary Thacker and Melody, Greg Thacker and Louisa, all of Cartersville; grandchildren, Rob, Ron, Christie, Edward, Sheila, Hannah, Terry, Carey, Dan, Alan, Ann, Gregory, Gloria, Geoffrey; 16 Great-Grandchildren; sisters, Juanita Clark of Woodstock, Gladys Sentell of Columbus, GA.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Reverend Patrick Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 12, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Carey and Dan Thacker, Gregory Gore, Edward White, Ron Gore and Rob Gore. Jimmy Nelson, Gerald Barron, Mark Kelly, David Turner, Lamar Pendley, Dr. Donald Evans and Joe Odom will serve as honorary pallbearers.
