George Brumbelow

March 2, 1925 — May 3, 2020

George Bell Brumbelow, Jr. of Marietta, formerly of Cartersville, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 3, at the age of 95. George was of the Baptist faith.

Born March 2, 1925, he was the son of the late George Bell Brumbelow, Sr. and the late Edith Taylor Brumbelow. George grew up in Atlanta, gaining a love of Civil War history and artifact collecting at a young age. He was a long-time member of the North Georgia Relic Club. George enjoyed the monthly meetings up until recent months.

George was a World War II veteran and a very proud member of the Greatest Generation. He was a member of the masons and was a master mason for 50 plus years. He was a Shriner for 40 plus years giving countless hours to fundraising for Shriner hospitals. He loved buying tickets to the Shrine Circus and giving them away to nieces, nephews, and his many friends.

George was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Edna Newberry Brumbelow, his parents and two sisters.

Survivors include a daughter Denise Hunton of Woodstock; grandchildren, Melissa Wilder, Michael A. Dickson and Rebecca Lynn Giddens; great- grandchildren, Spencer Duval, Carrie Whitley and Savannah Dickson; great- great grandchildren, Cade Taylor, Keeley Taylor and Carter Whitley; a special niece Suellen (Eddie) Waddell and best friend Lee Evans; special friends Lauren and Jim Hammonds, Rod Hall, Daryl and Jennifer Shipp, Barry and Jan Gore, Jessey O'Neal and Elizabeth.

Due to the continuing COVID restrictions a visitation limited to 10 people at a time and social distancing will be held at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Cassville Road Thursday, May 7th between 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm with a graveside service following at Oak Hill Cemetery at 1:30 pm, with the same restrictions being followed.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Golden Rose PCH as well as Afinity Hospice for their love and care of George Brumbelow.
