Mr. George W. Dunaway, age 87, of White, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Gentiva Hospice in Athens, Georgia. Born in Paulding County on November 15, 1928, he was the son of the late G.W. Dunaway and Mattie J. Lindsey Dunaway.
Mr. Dunaway was a member of Atco Baptist Church and retired from General Motors in 1984 with 29 years of service. Mr. Dunaway loved his church family and loved his wife and family with all of his heart and was very grateful for their love and respect they had for him. He graduated from Dallas High School in 1948. He enjoyed meeting with class members of the "48 Gang" every month and traveled with them for many years. He shared a special bond with neighbors, Joyce and Jack Boyd and special friend, Debra Soloman. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Glenda Moore and her husband, Garry Moore; along with seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Marie Greenway Dunaway; two children, Janis Mathis and her husband, Charles and George Dunaway, Jr. (Joe) and fiance' Sheri Coley; four grandchildren, Michelle (Mike) Wilson, Douglas (Kristen) Mathis, Heather (Brian) Cook and Hunter Moore; five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Cole and Gracie Wilson, Jacob and Kendall Mathis; his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Pat Greenway, Margaret Dunaway and Sue and Fuz Cornett.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 13, 2016 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Pastor Mike Boatfield and Pastor Doug Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Hunter Moore, Douglas Mathis, Brian Cook, Michael Wilson, Tyler Wilson and Randy Cochran. Cole Wilson and The "48 Gang" will serve as honorary pallbearers.
