Geraldine Tidwell passed gently into the arms of Jesus on September 22, 2020. She was 85. She was a member of Brandon's Chapel Baptist Church. Geraldine lived a long life full of faith, family, friends and love. As a young woman she spent many years working at A&P Grocery and Battle Foods where she mentored many young people who became her lifelong friends. Her customers loved her and she loved them. She was very involved in her Woodman of the World activities and always loved serving others. Geraldine was acting choir director at Macedonia Baptist Church for 30 years, where she also led the youth and taught Sunday School. She taught her own grandchildren to be giving and think of others by making up many shoe box gifts every year for Operation Christmas Child. She was a giver. Her friendship made a lasting positive impact on the lives of everyone who knew her. She lived a life that will be missed.
Geraldine will be greeted at heaven's gate by many loved ones, including her parents, all her siblings, her husband of 38 years Willie Tidwell and her granddaughter, Chelcie Hiers.
She is survived by her children, Deborah (Alvin) Reynolds, Mark (Linda) Butler and Carla (Steven) Rutledge. Her grandchildren are Wesley (Lori Beth) Stubbs, Blake (Tabitha) Stubbs, Devon Stubbs, Garrett Rutledge, Tara Butler and Boedie Butler. Her great grandchildren are Kadence, Grady, Paisley and Scout Stubbs.
She has two lifetime friends who will miss her greatly, Betty Milam and Dora Forsyth.
Geraldine was also blessed to be in the lives of Willie's children and grandchildren for many years, all of whom she loved dearly.
