Gerrye Tippens

Mrs. Gerrye Poor Tippens, 60, of Cartersville died Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Floyd Medical Center. Born in Floyd County, January 3, 1952, she was the daughter of the late James Poor and the late Ellen Elizabeth Jones Poor. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry Tippens; a daughter, April Dawn Phillips; an aunt, Kathline �Aunt Kitty� Vincent; her grandparents, Homer Samuel Pierce and Claire Winifred Pierce; a sister, Judy Maxine McGruder; and a special brother, Seals Odom.

Mrs. Tippens was of the Baptist Faith and was last employed by Shaw Industries. She was a loving and good hearted person, full of life, and always willing to feed those who were hungry.

Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Robert Gary Phillips II and Samuel Jason Phillips and wife Jessica; special son, Dustin Edward Phillips; her grandson, Joshua Samuel Phillips; special grandsons, Landen Jaxen Holt and Shamas Alekzander Phillips; her sisters, Donna Tant, Sharon Broze and Denise Jones.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 30, 2012 in the chapel of the Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Reverend Kim Lowery officiating. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. � 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
