Mrs. Emma Gertrude Martin, age 79, of Cartersville, died on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at her residence.Born in Greensboro, North Carolina on Feb. 11, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Jasper William "Jack" Rayle and Emma Nancy Harris Rayle. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, Robert E. Pepper Martin, her sons, Jackie Milton Trexler and Michael Browne Martin, her brothers and sisters, Jasper Rayle, Jr., Marie Pugh, Norma Scott, William (Buddy) Rayle and Wesley (Winnie) Rayle.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Terry L. Martin, Steve and Brenda Martin and Andy and Elizabeth Martin all of Cartersville; Scott and Karen Martin of White; Greg and Debbie Martin of Plainville; Jack and Joellen Fowler of Cartersville; her sisters, Juanita Rayle and Ann Hudnell both of Greensboro, North Carolina; sixteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2008 at Raccoon Creek Baptist Church with Rev. James Black and Rev. Freeman Porter officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home on Friday at 12:00 p.m. and will include: Laine, Shane, Joshua, Chad, Rane, Christopher, Brandon and Mick Martin. Jack Fowler will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 – 9 p.m.
