Gladys Decker

October 12, 1923 — October 26, 2008

Mrs. Gladys Gayton Decker, 85, of White passed away Sunday, October 26, 2008 at her residence. Born October 12, 1923 in Cartersville, she was the daughter of the late Rev. George Gayton and the late Ella Earwood Gayton.



Mrs. Decker had spent most of her life as homemaker and had worked briefly with Southern Bell, Union Carbide, and Nantucket. Mrs. Decker enjoyed cooking, sewing, and gardening. Most of all she enjoyed raising her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Truman Decker; her son, Allen Decker; her granddaughter, Christy Gay; her brothers, Harvey Gayton, Howard Gayton, Grady Gayton, and Ernest Gayton; and her sisters, Ada Law, Lois Gamblin, Trudy Martin, and Ruby Martin.



Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Florence Decker; her daughters and sons-in-law, Angie and Doug Simpson, Margie Decker, and Gale and Jimmy Wynn; her daughter-in-law, Barbara Decker, her grandchildren, Mike Decker, Rodney Decker, Tommy Decker, Jason Gay, Carlton Coker, Adam Wynn, Matthew Wynn, Michelle Brown, and Michael Kimbrel; 9 great-grandchildren; her sister, Eva Beaver; her sister-in-law, Gertie Gayton; and a number of nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2008 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Chaplain Sherry Maddox and Rev. Bill Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.



Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Decker, Michael Decker, Rodney Decker, Tommy Decker, Adam Wynn, and Matthew Wynn. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Carlton Coker, Michael Kimbrel, Jason Gay, and Shane Brown. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. Tuesday.



The family will receive friends from 5 � 8 p.m. Monday, October 27, 2008 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
