Mrs. Gladys Mae McCarley, age 88 of 463 Pinson Road, NE, Rome, GA, died Tuesday, July 27, 2004 in a local hospital.Mrs. McCarley was born in Bartow County, January 13,1916, daughter of the late Henry Clay and Ruby Pinson Carver, but had spent the greater part of her life in Rome and Floyd County. She was a former member of the Hollywood Baptist Church, and at the time of her death was a member of the Enon Baptist Church. She was married to the late Lee McCarley and he preceded her in death September 5, 1985. Prior to his death, for over 20 years, they owned and operated the McCarley Grocery on Maple Road. She enjoyed her flowers, gardening and fishing with her husband.Survivors include; three sisters and brothers in law, Beatrice Barrett of Ormand Beach FL, Lucille and J.D. Baggett of Adairsville, GA, Edna and Milton Gaines of Rome, GA, three brothers and sisters in law, Henry and Mildred Carver, George and Jo Mary Carver, Elmus and Brenda Carver all of Adairsville, GA, several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Mae McCarley will be held at 2pm Thursday, July 29, 2004 in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Dingler and Rev. Mark Cosby officiating.
