Mrs. Gladys E. Minerd, age 85, of 157 Walenda Drive, Rome, GA, died Monday, January 7, 2008, in a local health care facility.
Mrs. Minerd was born in Pennsylvania on February 2, 1922, the daughter of the late Morris and Elsie Marker Brant. She had been a resident of Floyd County since 1973 and was a housewife and homemaker. Mrs. Minerd was a member of the New Life Church of God where she was a member of the choir and taught Sunday School for a number of years. She enjoyed working in her garden, loved to cook and was a fabulous housekeeper. In addition to her parents Mrs. Minerd was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilmer and Elwood Brant, and a sister, Marjorie Rice.
Mrs. Minerd is survived by her husband, Raymond Minerd, to whom she was married on February 28, 1942; two daughters and sons-in-law, Raynelle and Frank Early of Rome, and Dixie and Guy Woolley of Adairsville, GA; one grandson, Vince Early of Rome; two sisters, Geneva Beeman of Berlin, PA, and Mary Maust of Somerset, PA; one brother, Floyd Brant of Somerset.
Funeral services for Mrs. Minerd will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Sean Belcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Floyd Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends this (Tuesday) evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home. At other hours they may be contacted at the residence.
Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home on Wednesday by 2:00 p.m. and include Vince Early, Jr., Glen Nicholson, Sam Mize, Gary Oaks, Malcolm Hunter and Zachery Belcher.
