Gloria Mathews

Mrs. Gloria W. Mathews, 77, of Cartersville, died Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at her residence.

Born April 13, 1937 in Wrightsville, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Jullian Blizzard and the late Ola Mae Logue Blizzard. Gloria was of the Baptist Faith and was a member of the Cartersville Kiwanis Club and the Coachmen 107 Camping Club. She enjoyed travel and reading, and was an excellent scrabble player. In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Blizzard; and a sister, Julie Hall.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Wayne B. Mathews; daughters, Debi Smith and her husband Buster of Hiram, Micki Mathews of Jenkinsburg, GA, and Patti Daugherty and her husband Dale of Euharlee; son, Barney Mathews and his significant other, Kathy Greer of Dallas; grandchildren, Matt Smith, Jeni Carter, Courtney Daugherty, Trae Mathews, and Danielle Mathews; great-grandchildren, Brooks Carter, Mason Smith, Carson Carter, and Cameron Carter; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with The Reverend Sammy Burgess officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends of Thursday, August 28, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Dale Daugherty, Buster Smith, Matt Smith, Ennis Denham, Joe Schulman, and Noel Roper. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Cartersville Kiwanis Club.
