Mrs. Grace C. McBurnett, age 102, of 505 5th Avenue, Rome passed away Thursday evening, July 26, 2007 at a local healthcare facility.
Mrs. McBurnett was born in Rock Run, Alabama on May 17, 1905, the daughter of the late John Culberson and Savannah Smith Culberson. She had lived most of her life in Floyd County, Georgia and was a member of the Church of God. Mrs. McBurnett loved gardening; working with flowers, especially roses and snow balls bushes and also loved to play the piano. She worked for several years at the Rome Hosiery Mill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dave McBurnett in 1941, a son, Rev. Arthur Herman McBurnett, three brothers, Ben Culberson, Chris Culberson and Frank Culberson, three sisters, Maybelle Casey, Ruth Beard and Lillie Keys.
Survivors include a son, Bobby McBurnett of Rome; grandson, David McBurnett; granddaughter, Beverly Ward; four great-grandchildren, Allison and Michael Ward and Lauren and Ben McBurnett; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services will be held today (Saturday) at 11:00 am at the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Rev. Horace Stewart officiating.
