Gregory Powell

Mr. Gregory Franklin Powell, Sr., 59, of Kingston, died on Monday, January 18, 2016 at Floyd Medical Center. Born in Troy, Alabama on May 16, 1956, he was the son of the late Lloyd Franklin Powell and Lessie Wynema Hughes.
Gregory was a loving, devoted husband, father and Pappy. He was very knowledgeable in many areas; all you had to do was just ask. "He was google before there was google." He had very strong work ethics and enjoyed going to the waffle house and watching NASCAR.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Kimmie Powell of Kingston; his children, Nawana Powell and partner, Rachel Curtis, Melessa Mullins and husband, Matt and
Gregory Jr. and wife Heather all of Kingston; his grandchildren, Keri Mullins, Jordan Mullins, Brent Hartsfield, Harley Powell, Andrew Curtis, Tripp Powell and Gracelyn Powell; his sister, Lessa Keith and husband, Gary Williams of Calhoun; his brothers, Allen Powell and wife, MaryAnn of Kingston, Stevie Powell of Acworth and Gary Powell and wife, Pam of Cartersville; his brother-in-law, Bud Smart and wife, Brenda of Lindsey, Oklahoma, James Smith of White and sister-in-law, Ann King of Cassville; along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 22, 2016 at New Vision Baptist Church with Pastor Derron Brown, his son, Gregory Franklin Powell, Jr. and son-in-law, Matt Mullins officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
