Guy Mcjunkin

Mr. Guy M. McJunkin, age 88, of Rome, GA died Wednesday, March 31, 2010 in a Rome hospital.



Mr. McJunkin was born in Floyd County, GA on March 26, 1922 to the late James Herbert McJunkin and Maude Mullins McJunkin. Prior to retirement Mr. McJunkin was employed as sales representative with Advanced Glove Mill with forty years of service. He was a member and deacon of the North Broad Baptist Church and the Malachi Sunday School Class. Mr. McJunkin served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 American Legion. He enjoyed being a deliverer for Meals on Wheels. In addition to his parents Mr. McJunkin was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Nancy Lou McJunkin, January 4, 1965 and beloved grandson, Michael Christopher Cromer, June 19, 2000.



Survivors include his wife of sixty-nine years, Mary McJunkin of Rome, GA; daughter, Janie McJunkin Cromer of Rome, GA; grandchildren, Chip and his wife Libby Cromer of Sugar Hill, GA; great-grandson and his �special buddy� Mack Cromer of Sugar Hill, GA and granddaughter-in-law, Christina Cromer of Carrollton, GA.



A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the North Broad Baptist Church with Dr. Tony Brooks, Rev. Katrina Brooks and grandson Chip Cromer officiating. Interment to follow in the East View cemetery with Rev. Benji Mathis in charge of the graveside rites with the Honor Guard of Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 American Legion conducting the military rites.



The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the North Broad Baptist Church.



The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet at the church: Robert Mathis, Jerry Gatlin, Danny Howell, Terry Lingerfelt, Steve Lingerfelt and Mitchell Locklear. Honorary pallbearers will include the members of the Malachi Sunday School Class of the North Broad Baptist Church and J.D. Nolan, Lamar Milsap, Lamar Dover, Joe Momon, Haskell Perry, Roy Echols, Bill Gordon, Grady Goodwin and T. W. Jacks.



In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations be made to the North Broad Baptist Church, 1309 North Broad Street, Rome, GA. 30161 to support the mission team trip to Chile.
