Guy Ray

Mr. Guy D. Ray, age 68, of 300 Rudy Street, Rome, GA, died Saturday afternoon, October 16, 2004, in Atlanta, GA.A native of Rome and Floyd County, Mr. Ray was born on January 18, 1936, the son of the late Paul Lester Ray and Annie Maude Williamson Ray. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and enjoyed building birdhouses and was a music lover. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ray was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Ray.Mr. Ray is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard and Lois Ray of Cartersville, GA, and Donald and Ruby Ray of Merced, CA. Nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral services for Mr. Ray will be held on Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Max Carver officiating. Interment will follow in the East View Cemetery with the Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 American Legion Honor Guard in charge of military rites.Mr. Ray will lie in-state at the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends this (Monday) evening from 7 until 9 p.m.The Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 American Legion Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers.
