Gwendolyn Coley

Mrs. Gwendolyn M. Ladd Coley, 88, of Rome passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at her residence. Born in Gainesville, April 20, 1922, Mrs. Coley was the daughter of the late Emory Ladd and Pearl Fields Ladd. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dana Artis Coley; and her brother, Walter J. Ladd.

Mrs. Coley was a member of Faith Baptist Church and a wonderful caring Christian lady. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was a great role model. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her son, Dana Ross Coley of Rome; her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Weldon Gentry of Taylorsville; her grandchildren, Jimmy Gentry of Los Angeles, CA., Angela and Scott Mayo of Dahlonega, and David and Linda Gentry of Euharlee; her great-grandchildren, Dale Keyt, Jr., Cole Scott Mayo and Elizabeth Diane Hill; her brother and sister-in-law, Ruffin and Lois Ladd of Gainesville; her sister and brother-in-law, Blondean and Darrell Sheridan of Gainesville; her sister-in-law, Edye Ladd of Gainesville and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, March 25, 2011 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Reverend Darrell Dallas Cornett, Sr. officiating.

Mrs. Coley will be transported to Little- Davenport Funeral Home in Gainesville on Saturday. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Reverend Maxie Ladd officiating. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow in Altavista Cemetery.
