Harry Finchum, Jr.

May 13, 1933 — October 23, 2012

Mr. Harry A. Finchum, Jr. age 79, loving husband and dedicated father, died Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Kathy Cares Hospice. Born in Winchester, Virginia on May 13, 1933, Mr. Finchum was the son of Pauline Morris Finchum and the late Harry A. Finchum, Sr.
Mr. Finchum was the owner/operator of the Wall Street Cigar Company in Cartersville and was active in the Downtown Development Association, a member of the Optimist Club and the Toast Masters Club. He was a member of the Church at Liberty Square and was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by his mother, Pauline Morris of Ft. Myers, Florida; his wife, Peggy Finchum of Cartersville; his daughters, Leslie Dawn McCleskey of Lawrence, Kansas and Loma A. Lynch of Charleston, West Virginia; his sons, Brian D. Finchum of Alexandria, Virginia and Wesley A. Finchum of Camas, Washington; his sister, Gaynell Gurceo; his brother, Joel Finchum; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 29, 2012 at the Church at Liberty Square with Dr. Jacob King officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton with Carl Boyd Post 42 in charge of full military graveside rites. Mr. Finchum will be taken to the church on Monday to lie-in-state for one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Sunday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home.
The Mighty Warriors and Brave Hearts will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family would like to send a very special thanks to Nathan Roach for all of his assistance with the Audio/Visual Team at the church.
The family will accept flowers but suggest that those who wish may make donations to The American Cancer Society, Cobb County Unit, and 1256 North Cobb Parkway, Suite 102, Marietta, Ga. 30062-2420.
