Mrs. Helen Jo Crowe, 75, of Cassville passed away peacefully to join her Heavenly Father on Thursday, July 29, 2010. Born October 13, 1934, in Bartow County, she was the daughter of the late Dewey Elbert Ray and the late Gladys Mae Parris Ray. She was also preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband of forty years, William W. (Bill) Crowe, who passed away July 29, 1993; a brother, Bradley Ray; and sisters Dimple Ray, Mary Bagley and Grace Dover.
Mrs. Crowe was an active member of Cassville Baptist Church, where she faithfully served on various committees, including the Friendship Kitchen which provides hot lunches to countless people within the community. She was a proud member of the J.O.Y. Group, with whom she traveled many miles and shared wonderful times. She enjoyed cooking and serving her family in her humble home. Mrs. Crowe also enjoyed reading, going to the library and loved fellowshipping with her many friends and neighbors in the Cassville community on her screened in porch in the evenings. She cherished her family and had an open and caring heart for serving others, especially the elderly and the sick. Mrs. Crowe was employed by Nantucket Industries for twenty seven years, where she worked in administration and retired in 1997.
Mrs. Crowe leaves behind her loving children and their spouses, Melody and Tom Dittmer and Steve and Michele Crowe, all of Cartersville. Lovingly referred to as �Nana,� she was also blessed with five grandchildren and their spouses, Seth Dittmer, Elizabeth and Greg Gable, Caroline Dittmer, Lawson Crowe and Michaela Crowe. She also leaves behind a brother, J.L. Ray, whom she loved dearly, and several nieces and nephews.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by all those blessed to have known her. Mrs. Crowe believed in hard work and unconditional love. She wasted nothing and put God at the center of her life.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Cassville Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Somers and Dr. Larry Finger officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cartersville with Dr. E. C. Chatham conducting graveside service.
Serving as pallbearers are Mrs. Crowe�s grandsons, Seth Dittmer and Lawson Crowe; Sean Pat McDermott, George Knight, Hoyt Campbell and Bill Liddle. The J.O.Y. Group of Cassville Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5 � 7 p.m., Friday, July 30th at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville, Georgia.
