Mrs. Helen Finchum, 75, of Cartersville, passed over into Glory Monday, January 24, 2011 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Born in Maryville, Tennessee, August 13, 1935, she was the daughter of the late James Farmer and the late Margaret Hanley Farmer. She was a member of Canton Road Church of God and owner/operator of Miss Helen�s Country Kitchen from 1994 until 2004. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oscar L. Finchum, Jr. who died in 2008; and her brother, Joe Farmer.
Mrs. Finchum enjoyed her Southern Gospel Music and her trips with her special friends to the National Quartet Convention. But most of all her family was her favorite interest. She loved them all and was at her best when they were all together.
Mrs. Finchum is survived by her children, James (Cheryl) Deatherage of Lexington, SC, Billy (Vicky) Deatherage of Hiram, Sharon (Andy) Mitchell of Marietta, Richard Deatherage of Cartersville, Vickie (Frank) Haddock of Ft. Oglethorpe, Lynn Deatherage (Robert Davis) of Cartersville, Joe (Tina) Deatherage of Cartersville, Michelle (Danny) Martin of Taylorsville; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Wright of Cartersville and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Canton Road Church of God with Brother Dewayne McCreary and Brother Dale Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens with Brother David Rose in charge of graveside rites.
Pallbearers are asked to meet at 1:15 p.m., Thursday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services and will include: Jay O�Bannon, Ricky Blount, Eric Deatherage, Richard Deatherage, Jr., Joshua Deatherage and John Berryhill. James w. Deatherage, Jackob Muller and Robert Davis will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 � 8 p.m. Wednesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville.
