Helen Floyd

Mrs. Helen S. Floyd, 81, of Cartersville passed away Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Starcrest of Cartersville. Born February 10, 1927, she was a native of Bartow County and was the daughter of the late Melvin James Simpson and the late Laura Massey Simpson.



Mrs. Floyd had been a homemaker most of her life with the exception of a few years when she worked at Union Carbide. She enjoyed keeping her grandchildren and listening to the Gaithers, and she loved to travel. Mrs. Floyd was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Reginald �Shorty� Floyd; her brother, J.V. Simpson; and her sister, Laura Denise Floyd.



Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Linda Floyd of Acworth; her daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Don Richter of Stone Mountain and Kathy and Ken Ruff of Cartersville; her grandchildren, Lori and Danny Bruce of Benicia, California, Ryan and Angela Floyd of Woodstock, Jennifer and John McEnery of Knoxville, Tennessee, Kyle Ruff, Kevin Ruff, and Kandace Ruff, all of Cartersville; six great-grandchildren with one more great-grandchild on the way; and her sisters and brother, Mildred Sanders of Elberton, Sarah Davis of Newton, Harold Simpson of Buford, and Carol Burton of Cartersville.



Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2008 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Doug Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Floyd, Kevin Ruff, Kyle Ruff, John McEnery, Mike O�Halpin, and Keith Burton.



The family will receive friends from 6 � 9 p.m. Saturday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Grace Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Grace Baptist Church, 477 Old Cass-White Rd. NW, Cartersville, GA 30121.
