Mrs. Helen Teems Helton, 79, of Rome, widow of the late William Robert Helton, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Born April 27, 1933 in Aiken, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Clinton Teems and the late Bertha Elrod Teems. Mrs. Helton was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Shannon and a member of the Eastern Star. She was retired from Horizon Industries. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Clyde Teems, Arthur Teems, Buell Teems, and Bobby Teems; and a sister, Willie Mae Digsby.
Survivors include her children, Robert C. Helton and his wife Deborah of Adairsville; Tammy Mincey and her husband Mick of Calhoun, and Jeff Helton of Norcross; brothers, Marion Teems of Kingston and Johnny Teems of Rinyville, KY; sisters, Glenda Tow of Calhoun, Imogene Fowler of Kingston, Donna Cook, also of Kingston, and Mary Nell Bozone of Ray City, GA; grandchildren, Dawn Price, Clint Helton, Todd West, and Kathy Robinson; 13 great-grandchildren; god-children, Darrell Morrison and Carol Morrison Tillery; her best friend of 72 years and Godmother of her three children, Annie Morrison Autry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with The Reverend Ray Robinson and The Reverend Jackie Culverson officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 from 6 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Clint Helton, Todd West, Chris Brookshire, Darrell Morrison, Jamie Fowler, Keith Dempsey, Nathan Cook, and Lamar Teems. Great-grandchildren will be Honorary Pallbearers.
