Helen Nelson

Helen Grace Eaton Nelson, 96 of Euharlee, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2023.

Born on September 9, 1926, in Madison, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late John and Maude Rhodes Eaton. Helen is also preceded in death by her husband, Milton Nelson; great grandchildren, Daley Nelson Moore and Sawyer Raines; and brother, J.W. Eaton.

Helen is survived by her children, Joan (Jake) Cochran and Danny (Marsha) Smith; grandchildren, Kathy (Dennis Buchan) Moore, Jason (Connie) Arp, Allison (Jim) Raines, Bethany (Mike) Weightman, Tori (Cary Morris) Owen, Todd Cochran, and Natalie Cochran; nineteen great grandchildren; and three great, great grandchildren.

Helen graduated from Douglasville High School in 1945. She married Milton Nelson on November 24, 1946. They owned Nelson's Grocery in Euharlee, Ga. for many years. Helen retired from Union Carbide. She was a member of Euharlee Baptist Church.
Helen was known to be a true prayer warrior. She enjoyed sewing clothes for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved gardening and baking.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Euharlee Baptist Church with Reverend Keith Willard officiating. Visitation for Helen will be held prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Euharlee Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Euharlee Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Euharlee, Georgia.

Serving as pall bearers will be Todd Cochran, Maddox Teams, Joe Carrol, Zalen Cochran, Brendan Cochran, and Terry Cantrell.
