Helen Woody

Mrs. Helen G. Woody, 86, a long-time resident of Adairsville, and a recent resident of Tyrone, Georgia died Monday, August 1, 2010, at Piedmont-Fayette Hospital in Fayetteville following a lengthy illness. Helen was born July 1, 1924 in Leighton, Alabama and was the daughter of the late Richard Graves and the late Minnie Gertrude Flanagan Graves. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Lee Woody, Sr. who died in 2005.



After over forty years of dedicated service, Mrs. Woody retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, where she most recently was a payroll clerk. She was recognized many times by Goodyear for her outstanding perfect attendance records. Mrs. Woody was known for her strong work ethic, her willingness to help others, and her cooking skills. The last year of her life was spent at Dogwood Forest Assisted Living Home in Fayetteville and Southland Nursing Home in Peachtree City where she was loved by the staff for her sweet disposition.



Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Turner McBurnett and husband, Boyd of Tyrone; her sister, Hazel Fulton of Alexandria,Virginia; her step-children A.L. Woody, Jr. of Aiken, South Carolina, Barbara Woody Edwards and husband, Bobby and Kathy Woody Wilson and husband, Carter all of Adairsville; her grandchildren, Tracy Lee McBurnett of Hollywood, California, Lisa Mobley of Tyrone, Georgia, Todd McBurnett and wife, Courtney of Adairsville, Kelly Edwards Carver and husband, Larry, Bob Edwards, Jill Edwards, Chess Wilson and wife Mandy, all of Adairsville, and Katie Wilson Foster and husband, Matt of Ranger; her great-grandchildren, Taylor and Ashton Mobley of Tyrone, Cody, Joshua and Kaylee McBurnett of Adairsville; Chad, Beth, Madison, and Mackenzie Edwards, Landy Gardner, Maggie, Taylor, Kalie and Brody Carver; Drew and Macy Wilson, all of Adairsville, Luke and Andrew Foster of Ranger, and great-great-grandchildren, Jazz Edwards and Coleden Garner of Adairsville.



Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2010 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Dr. Wayne Hamrick and Rev. Doug Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.



The family will receive friends from 4 � 7 p.m. Thursday, August 5 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home.
