Herbert Meadows

Mr. Herbert Meadows, 90, of Cartersville went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Cartersville Medical Center.

Born on February 26, 1929 in Collinsville, Alabama he was the son of the late Willie B. Meadows and the late Margaret Oliver Meadows, Vera Meadows. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Katie Johnson; and his brother, Johnny Meadows.

Mr. Meadows served his country in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a machinist by trade. Mr. Meadows was a faithful member of Gateway Church of Carterville where he served as an usher and greeter and always made people feel welcomed and loved. In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking for his family and collecting knives.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Meadows; his daughter, Gena (Sammy) Burgess of Cartersville; his grandson, Andrew (Janie Beth) Burgess of Cartersville; his great-grandchildren, Cash Burgess, and Boaz Burgess; his sisters, Ethel Thurman, and Lina Benefield; and his brothers, Howard Meadows, Talmadge Meadows, Wayne Meadows, and Tremon Meadows all of Alabama.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Reverend Sammy Burgess and Reverend Joe Nix officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at the funeral home.
