Herbert Millican

Mr. Herbert Emory "Herbie" Millican, age 76, of 202 East Valley Road, Rome, GA, died Sunday, July 9, 2006, at his residence, after a long battle with cancer.Mr. Millican was born in Floyd County, GA on November 30, 1929, son of the late Lawrence Lee and Helen Dempsey Millican. He was co-owner of Millican Plastering Company and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Millican loved to travel, Florida fishing, gardening, camping, and had a good sense of humor. Also, Mr. Millican was a warm spirited humanitarian. In addition to his parents, Mr. Millican was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Herman and a brother, Lawrence Allen (Bud) Millican.Mr. Millican is survived by his wife of fifty seven years, Shirley Molock Millcian of Rome; two daughters, Brenda Steed of Rome and Debbie Injaychock and her husband, Bob of St. Simons Island, GA; a son, Randy Millican and his wife, Laura of Rome; six grandchildren, Kathryn and Jonathan Steed both of Rome, Meghan Injaychock of St. Simons, Chris and Mike Millican both of Rome, and Stephanie Moore and her husband, Brent Moore of Cedartown; a sister, Wanda Jean Self of Adairsville, GA and a brother, Carl Millican of Cedartown. Several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at 11:00 A.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Adams officiating and Mr. Steve Cox, Mrs. Lynn Shaw, and Meghan Injaychock giving the eulogies.Mr. Millican will remain in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home by 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday: Arvil Thompson, Gene Shaw, Steve Cox, Jason Millican, Haskell Perry, and Billy Spears.
