Hettie Hamilton

Mrs. Hettie Jo Hamilton, age 68, of 109 South Sycamore Street, Rome, GA passed away on Monday, April 5, 2004 at a local medical center.Mrs. Hamilton was born in Harrisonburg, Louisiana on April 2, 1936, the daughter of the late Alex Jones and Lena McCollum. She had been a resident of Rome since 1969 and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Hamilton loved to paint with oils on canvas and counting cross-stitching. She was a Girl Scout leader, girl's basketball coach, excellent seamstress and never met a stranger. Mrs. Hamilton was a loving wife and mother. She was preceded in death by a son, Leslie Allen Hamilton.Survivors include, her husband, Bernard Lanier Hamilton, Sr. of Rome; son, Bernard Lanier Hamilton, Jr. of Orlando, FL; daughters, Melody Hamilton Blackiston and Linda Bell of Rome, GA; grandchildren, Jennifer Sanchez of Orlando, FL, Chris Blackiston of Rome,GA, Amber Hamilton of Orlando, FL, Bernard L. Hamilton, III of Orlando, FL, Brandi Bosley of Atlanta, GA and James Bell of Destin, FL; great grandchildren, Rachel JoLee Sanchez of Orlando, FL, Lena and Alex Jones of Louisiana and Thomas Gordon Jones of Texas.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 7th at 2:00 pm from the Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Armistead officiating. Entombment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.The Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home, 2542 Shorter Ave., Rome, has charge of the funeral service for Mrs. Hettie Jo Hamilton.
