Hilliard Miller

Hilliard H. Miller, 85, of Cartersville died Sunday, August 16, 2009 at Maple Ridge Nursing Home. Born July 25, 1924 in Woodstock, he was the son of the late Augustus Lopez Miller and the late Maggie Elizabeth Hardin Miller. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Inez Thompson; and his brother, Augustus Miller, Jr.



Hilliard was employed by Shaw Industries as an electrician until his retirement. He served in the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Officer during World War II. Hilliard was a member of the American Legion and the VFW, and he was of the Methodist faith.



Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Laura Silver Miller; his children, Greg and Ann Miller of Buford, Gwen Simmons of Buford, and Gary Miller of Florida; his step-children, Linda and Bobby Cochran of Emerson, Bobby and Liana Mullinax of Toccoa, and Janice Angell of Cartersville; 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.



Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Oak Hill Cemetery for family and close friends.



The family will receive friends from 4 � 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville GA 30120.



In lieu of flowers those desiring may make a contribution to the Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter or The Etowah Valley Humane Society.
