Hobart Lloyd Cobb, 81, of 28 Mallet Pointe NE, Cartersville passed away Sunday, June 3, 2007 at his residence. Born July 4, 1925 in Middlesboro, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Robert Manuel Cobb and the late Julie Melvina Miracle Cobb. Mr. Cobb was a retired millwright. He was also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served during WW II in the Pacific Theatre with beach landings on Peleliu and Okinawa. He had many good friends and was a member of The Church at Liberty Square. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Lisa Diane Cobb; his brothers, Levi, Bill and Walt Cobb; and his sisters, Allie Capps, Hattie Cobb and Nancy Hoskins.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Opal Smith Cobb of Cartersville; his daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Michael Smith of Lafollette, Tennessee, Sheila and Don Jackson of Marietta and Debra and Thomas Rudasics of Beaufort, South Carolina; his sisters, Martha Johnson of Middlesboro, Kentucky, Bonnie Elworth of Clearwater, Florida and Loretta Mae Butler of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; his grandchildren, Brian and Alesha Jackson, Jeffery and Shannon Jackson, and Casey Jackson; his great-grandchildren, Branum Jackson, Tyler Jackson and Brooklynn Jackson; and many good friends and Sunday school class members.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2007 at The Church at Liberty Square with Dr. Joe Edwards and Dr. Dale Murray officiating. Entombment will follow at Providence Cemetery & Mausoleum with full military honors. Serving as pallbearers will be: Brian Jackson, Jeffery Jackson, Richard Greene, Tim Daniels, Ernest King, and Neil Howell.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 9 p.m. Thursday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
