Mr. Hobart L. Money, age 79, of Rome, GA died Saturday, September 4, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Money was born in Cherokee, AL on November 21, 1930, the son of the late Porter Lafayette Money and Bertha Butler Money. Mr. Money was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force retiring in 1990 with the rank of Master Sergeant with 36 years in the U.S. Air Force and Georgia Air National Guard. He was employed with General Electric from 1955 until 1991. Mr. Money was on the Board of Directors at the Coosa Valley Credit Union. He was a fifty year plus member of Cherokee Masonic Lodge #66 F & AM, member of the Eastern Star, Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 of the American Legion and a member of the Civil Air Patrol. Mr. Money was a member of the Yaarab Shrine Center of Atlanta, Rome Shrine Club and General Electric Retiree Club. Mr. Money was an active member of the West Rome Baptist Church. In addition to his parents Mr. Money was preceded in death by his first wife, Paula Money in 2003 and a step-son Scott Hester.
Survivors include his wife Ida Faye Money; two sons, Joe Money of Rome, GA and Randal Money of Bonaire, GA; step-children, Kathy Whitfield and Larry Hester; grandchildren, Kelli and Joseph Money and Amanda Money, Amy Burnett, April Johnson, Lisa Hester and Buddy Hester, a number of great-grandchildren and a sister, Margaret Graham of Cedar Bluff, AL.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, September, 8, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the West Rome Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Oates officiating. Interment to follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with military graveside rites accorded by the Robbins Air Force Base Honor Guard and Masonic graveside rites provided by Cherokee Masonic Lodge #66 F & AM. There will be a call communication on Wednesday at 12:00 P.M. at the Cherokee Masonic Lodge #66 F & AM for the purpose of attending the service for Brother Hobart Money. On Wednesday Mr. Money will be carried to the West Rome Baptist Church to lie in state from 12:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Oaknoll Chapel.
