Mr. Horace L. Freeman, Sr., age 79, of 7517 Black Bluff Rd., Cave Spring, GA passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at his residence after an extended illness.Mr. Freeman was born January 13, 1926 in Floyd County, son of the late John W. and Eunice Daniel Freeman. He was a long time resident of Cave Spring and Floyd County.Mr. Freeman was a self-employed master auto mechanic. He ran Freeman's Garage and before his retirement was employed as a vocational instructor at Georgia School for the Deaf. He was a member of State Line Baptist Church where he was a deacon and former Sunday School teacher. Mr. Freeman was also a member of Mackey Lodge #120, Knight's Templar (Royal Arch) and Yaarab' Shrine. He was also a Gideon and Carpenters for Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, B.J. Freeman and a sister, Minnie Ammons.He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris Wilson Freeman. Mr. Freeman is also survived by a son, H.L. Freeman, Jr. (Sonny) and his wife Lynn of Marietta, GA; four daughters, Carolyn Langston and her husband Billy of Cave Spring, Kathy Lindsey and her husband Rev. Dr. Robin Lindsey of Powder Springs, Sherri Ray and her husband Ricky of Centre, Al and Susan Freeman and her fiancée' Rob Harbison both of Rome, GA; a special sister, Bonnie Green of Rome; grandchildren, Tammy Langston Martin, Jason Langston, Chris and Jonathan Lindsey, Anna and Kyle Acker, Skylar Ray and a great granddaughter, Becca Martin; a special aunt, Elizabeth Echols.Funeral services for Mr. Freeman will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at State Line Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Fuller, Rev. Dr. Robin Lindsey and Rev. Lael Corbett officiating. Interment will follow in State Line Baptist Church cemetery. Mr. Freeman will lie in-state at the church from 10:00 until the service hour.The family will receive friends at the Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home from 5:00 until 8:00 pm tonight (Friday). At other hours the family may be contacted at the residence.In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to State Line Baptist Church, Floyd Heyman Hospice or to Gideon's International.Pallbearers are asked to meet at the church by 10:30 am, Saturday and include, Chris Lindsey, Jonathan Lindsey, Jason Langston, Kyle Acker, Skylar Ray and Joey Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Wilson, Harlin Terry, Steve Stefka, Ted Ammons, Alvin Couey, Aut Padgett, Herb Powell, Doug Milner, Jimbo Weaver and Gordon Graves.
