Howard Mathis, Jr.

Mr. Howard Edward "Eddie" Mathis, Jr., 76, of Taylorsville, died on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at his residence.
Mr. Mathis was retired from Georgia Power with 30 years of service as a boiler turbine operator. He was a life- long resident of Bartow County and was a dedicated family man. He was born and raised on his father's family farm on August 4, 1940 to the late Howard Edward "Buck" Mathis, Sr. and Eunice Irene Watkins Mathis.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Betty Whitten Mathis of Taylorsville; his daughter and son-in-law, Paula Hilinski and Dr. Joseph Hilinski of Boise, Idaho; his son, Mark Mathis and wife, Hillary Mathis of Cartersville; 5 grandchildren, Chloe Walters, Sophie Mathis, Bode Mathis, Caroline Hilinski and Audrey Hilinski; along with two brothers, James P. Mathis and wife, Brenda and Jackie R. Mathis and wife, Teresa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. – 12 Noon at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Advocates for Bartow County Children, 49 Monroe Xing SE, Cartersville, Georgia 30120.
