Mr. Hoyt Roger Stowe, age 73, of Rome, GA, died November 30, 2009, in a local hospital.
Mr. Stowe was born in Cherokee County, AL on December 17, 1935, the son of the late George Henry Stowe and Essie Inez Aldridge Stowe. He was a member of the Clock tower Antique Car Club, Excalibur Car Club, and a certified member of the Creek Indian Nation. Also, he collected antiques. The Stowe family was the first family to make Holly Wreaths and sell them in Rome on Fourth Avenue.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-two years, Freida Jones Stowe of Rome; a daughter, Debbie Stowe of Rome; a son, Byron Stowe of Rome; and three sisters, Joyce VanMeter, Carolyn Milliken, and Jeanette Henry all of Rome. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Milliken officiating. Interment will follow in the East View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour in the Oaknoll Chapel and at other hours may be contacted at a sister�s house, Joyce VanMeter, 14 Ivy Street, Rome, GA (Riverside Community).
The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Oaknoll Chapel by 1:30 P.M. on Thursday: Adoma Brandon, Ricky VanMeter, Weyland Billingsley, Lamar Alexander, Craig Layne, and Tim Minter.
