Hubert Guyton, Sr.

January 23, 1925 — September 5, 2009

Hubert Lee Guyton, Sr., 84, of Cartersville died Saturday, September 5, 2009 at the Cartersville Medical Center. Born January 23, 1925 in Cartersville, he was raised in Atco. Hubert was the son of the late Eulys Gilreath Guyton and the late Julia Belle Long. He was also preceded in death by his twin brother, Hugh Roy Guyton; his sister, Mildred Guyton Kile; his son-in-law, Danny Wright; and his daughter-in-law, Ann Padgett Guyton.



Hubert served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and retired from Cobb County as the heating and air inspector. Hubert had also worked as a heating and air contractor. During his career he had worked at places such as Cape Kennedy and Robins Air Force Base. Hubert was also an ordained minister.



Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Jacquelyn Jenkins Guyton; his children and their spouses, Cheryl Wright, Hubert Lee Guyton, Jr., Brenda and Terry Vaughan, and Joel and Cheryl Guyton, all of Cartersville; his sisters, Cathryn and Donald Leveen of Cartersville, and Dorothy Tallent of Melbourne, Florida; his grandchildren, Jody Cagle, Matthew Wright, Joseph Young, Kelly Young, Whitney Vaughan, Tawanna Simons, Rachel Ericson, Justin Guyton, and Katie Guyton; his great-grandchildren, Hayden Cagle, Ashton Cagle, Lauren Young, Adrian Moseley, Jaylen Flores, Chelsea Simons, Timothy Simons, Bethany Simons, and Abigail Simons; and several nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, September 7, 2009 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Jody Cagle and Rev. Doug Simons officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens and Mausoleum.



Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Jenkins, Mitch Jenkins, Mark Ferguson, Rodney Chandler, Keith Williams, Phil Bryson, Kenny Jacobs, and Jonathan Padgett. These gentlemen are asked to be at the funeral home by 1:15 p.m. on Monday.



The family will receive friends from 3 � 8 p.m. Sunday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.



In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society or to the Kidney Foundation.
