Hulon Elrod

Mr. Hulon F. Elrod, 81, of Cartersville passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Crawford Long Hospital. Born May 25, 1927 in Cartersville, he was the son of the late Oliver Elrod and the late Lonnie Myrick Elrod. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Chitwood; his brothers, Clarence Elrod, James Elrod, and Roland Elrod; and his sister, Nellie Ruth Cline.



Hulon was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of Peeples Valley Community Church. He was a member of the Kingston Masonic Lodge #394 where he was a Past Master. Hulon was also a Past Master of the Bartow Masonic Convention and Mason of the Year for 2007 for the 7th District. Hulon was also an A-1 handyman who could fix anything.



Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Ruby I. Elrod; his son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Cathy Chitwood of Kingston; his grandchildren, Wendy and Tillman Fricks, Adam and Kara Chitwood, and Connie Palmer; his great-grandchildren, Kelsey Hale, Kara Hale, Dean Fricks, Savannah Chitwood, and Brett Chitwood; his sister, Sarah Davis; and several nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2009 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Larry Hufstetler officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.



Serving as pallbearers will be Roland Elrod, Tony Elrod, Chris Elrod, Nick Carter, Frankie Cline, and Danny Ray Elrod. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. on Friday.



The family will receive friends from 5 � 8 p.m. Thursday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to Peeples Valley Community Church.
