Ikey Satterfield, Jr.

Mr. Ikey Satterfield, Jr., age 58, of 42 Hennon Dr., Rome, GA, died Thursday, August 17, 2006, in his residence.A native of Rome and Floyd County, Mr. Satterfield was born on April 30, 1948 to Mrs. Irma Potts Satterfield Cleaveland and the late Ikey Satterfield, Sr. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church and Thankful Sunday School Class. Mr. Satterfield was a devoted Christian and diligent student of the Bible. When able he had also been active in the church's AWANA program. Prior to his disablement, he was associated with Trend Mills, Floyd Outlaw Appliance, and Friends Inn a restaurant owned by he and his wife. Mr. Satterfield enjoyed cooking, mechanical work, and anything else that involved using his hands. He is remembered lovingly as a wonderful father and husband with a humorous and an outgoing personality. The lessons and words of wisdom of "live by faith, not by sight" will echo in the hearts of his family.Mr. Satterfield is survived by his wife, Reba Rosser Holcomb Satterfield of Rome, to whom he married, April 10, 1982; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ikey Satterfield and his fiancé, Megan Parrill of Austell, GA, Lee and Pennie Holcomb of Cave Spring, GA, and Rex and Lori Holcomb of Douglas, GA; ten grandchildren; his mother, Irma Potts Satterfield Cleaveland of Rome; one brother and sister-in-law, John T. and Mary Satterfield of Cave Spring; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy Elders of Rome, Brenda and Charlie Shepard of Cartersville, GA, and Doris and Michael Cross of Rome. Several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.A memorial service will be held on Sunday afternoon, August 20, 2006, in the Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church with Rev. Mac McCurry and Rev. Clyde Hampton officiating.
