Ilah Frances Winkles, 71, of Cartersville passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at the Cartersville Medical Center. Born May 5, 1939 in Bartow County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Earl McEntire and the late Kathleen Green McEntire. Winkles; her son-in-law, Harold Woody; her grandson, Steven Blalock; her sister, Margaret McEntire; and her brother, Henry Earl (Slim) McEntire, Jr.
To say that Frances enjoyed bowling would be an understatement. She bowled in several leagues in Cartersville and enjoyed bowling in tournaments in Cartersville and around the Southeast. The wife of a career military man, she also enjoyed living in their many duty stations around the world.
Frances retired as a machine operator from Shaw Industries. She enjoyed her house plants, cooking, and her cats. As much as she enjoyed cooking, Frances also enjoyed eating out, especially Chinese food. Most of all she loved taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the special nurses and staff at Starcrest Nursing Home for their love and care of Frances.
Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Linda Blalock Woody of Calhoun, Kathy and David Bennett of Cartersville, and Wanda Winkles of Cartersville; her grandchildren, Ronnie and Stephanie Blalock, Jennifer and James Wilson, Joshua Honeycutt, Courtney Honeycutt, Laken Bennett, Landen Winkles, and Erika Roberts; her great-grandchildren, Meagan, Shanna, Rebecca, Emily, Cameron, Chloe, Samantha, Austin, Priscilla, and Bethany; her brother, Carl McEntire; her sisters and brother-in-law, Joann and Joel Cole and Bessy Ruth McEntire; and several other family members.
