Ishamel Grady �Peanut� Butler, 74, of Cartersville went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 17, 2009. Born May 17, 1935 in Paulding County he was the son of the late Henry Grady Butler and Effie Matthews Butler. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Gerald Butler and Sharron Butler and his sister, Janie Webster.



Peanut served three years in the United States Army and was employed by Charles J. Thomas Construction where he retired after thirty-five years. He was an active member of New Vision Baptist Church where he was loved by all.



Survivors include his loving wife of forty-five years, Lillian Ray Butler; his stepchildren and their spouses, David and Sharon Bohannon, Jo Ann and Austin Godfrey, Patricia and James Matthews and Linda and John Wilson; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was loved and will be missed by all.



Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2009 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Rev. Matt McArthur officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens with military honors provided by American Legion Carl Boyd Post #42.



Serving as pallbearers will be Doug Steel, Dr. Barry Reel, Darin Weathington, Chad Hunter, Michael Wilson and Larry Wilson. These gentlemen are asked to be at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday.



The family will receive friends from 5 - 9 p.m. on Monday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
