Jack Clark

August 4, 1919 — March 12, 2010

Mr. Jack W. Clark, age 90, of Rome, GA died Friday, March 12, 2010 at his residence.



Mr. Clark was born in the Foster�s Mill community of Cave Spring, Floyd County, GA on August 4, 1919, the son of the late James Henderson Clark and Anna Brown Williams Clark. Mr. Clark worked for 22 years with Celanese Corp. and retired with 17 years of service with General Electric. He was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Army, having served in the 9th Division 60th Infantry from 1941 to 1945 and rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He received 8 battle stars in recognition of campaigns in Algeria, French Morocco, Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy (D-Day + 3), Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and in Central Europe. He received the Bronze Star Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Service Arrowhead and American Defense Service medal. In addition to his parents, Mr. Clark was preceded in death by brothers Tom Clark and Donald Clark and a sister, Edith Clark Mills.



Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Inez Ayers Clark; daughters, Janice Clark Morrissey and husband, Mike of Rockmart, GA and Gail Clark Vokes and husband, John of Hartwell, GA; sister, Frances Clark Power of Atlanta, GA; nieces, Linda Stiles of Carrollton, GA and Sandra McKenzie of Rome and nephew, Lee Ayers of Atlanta, GA. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and the GE Retirees Club in Rome.



A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, March 15, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.



The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home.
