Jacqueline "Jackie" Ruth Mixon Shinall, 78, of Cartersville, passed away April 14, 2013. Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was known for her sense of humor and her ability to live life on her own terms.
Jackie was born in Cartersville, Georgia, on February 12, 1935, to the late Annie and Charlie Mixon. She married Joe Shinall and traveled with him in the U.S. Air Force on assignments in Louisiana, Savannah, Georgia, and Mildenhall, England. She was a wife, mother, and homemaker to him and their four children until he passed away in 1978. She loved painting, reading, having family gatherings, talking about politics, and dancing.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jackie was preceded in death by sisters, Mabel Pruitt and Doris Cloud.
She is survived by her children, Steve and Peggy (Brown) Shinall, Tony and Tracy Shinall, Mike and Jada Shinall, and Tommy and Kim Sewell; her grandchildren, Candace and Cecil Stewart, Roxanne Shinall and Justin Martin, Matt and Ashley Sewell, Crystal and Thomas Akins, Blake Sewell and Jessica Purdy, Evan McLeod and Amanda Rich, and Keegan Shinall; her great-grandchildren, Taylor and Caleb Hufstetler, Greyson Akins, Breanna and Kyleigh Stewart, Noah McLeod, and Adelynn Martin. She is also survived by her sister Joanne Stepp Long and Paul Long, nephews Larry and Nissey Stepp, Ricky and Shari Stepp; and special loved ones Cindy Petroski, Candace and Ryan Stepp, pet companion Looney, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1 P.M., Wednesday, April 17, in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with the Reverend Lamar Guyton officiating. Friends and family will be received on Wednesday from 11 AM until the funeral hour.
