Jada M. McGuire, Sr. passed away on September 20, 2010 after a long illness.
He was born inPrescott, Arkansas on August 16, 1924. Jada enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1943, and served in the European Theater for two years under General George Patton�s command. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. Following his military service, Jada received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Arkansas. He was Student Manager of the Razorback football, basketball and track teams. In addition to his parents Jada was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
On December 23, 1950, Jada married Lois Nolen of Blevins, Arkansas. He is survived by his loving wife, Lois, his daughter Patti and husband James A. Grindstaff, III, of Rome, GA and his son, Jada McGuire, Jr. (Monty) also of Rome. Other survivors include grandsons, James A. Grindstaff, IV, his wife Melissa and son Jackson James, of Belleville, IL; Jada Ryan Grindstaff also of Belleville; a sister, Janie Dawson of Springfield, MO; a sister, Ruth Walker of Nashville, TN, plus many wonderful sisters and brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
Throughout his career, Jada served as manager of several Chambers of Commerce. He retired in Pueblo, CO and moved with his wife and son to Joplin, MO where he had been CEO of the Joplin Chamber for nine years. He began a post-retirement career with Roper Pontiac and worked there for many years. Jada, Lois and Monty moved to Rome, GA in 2007 to be near family. Jada was a member of the First Christian Church in Joplin and had served as Chairman of the Board, Treasurer, Elder and Deacon.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 27, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Christian Church in Joplin with Rev. Fay Blevins and Chairman of the Board, Kent Pratt officiating. Interment will be in Rome, GA.
