James Robert Abernathy, age 71, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center.
James was born in Marietta, Georgia on February 21, 1952, to the late James and Irene Abernathy. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Allen Abernathy.
He is survived by his adoring wife of over 30 years, Rita Fay Abernathy; his daughters Jamie Nicole Abernathy and Marsha Ingram (Erick); his brother Chuck Abernathy (Connie); his grandchildren Cameron Ingram, Morgan Ingram, and Emily Ingram; his sisters-in law Wanda Hunton (Ron) and Kathy Bennett (Hank); brother-in-law Sam Gravley; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
James loved being outside, working out in the yard, loved his wife very much, and adored his dogs Bug and Sadie. He will be missed terribly by all of them.
