James Bostick, Sr.

Mr. James Samuel "J.B." Bostick, Sr., age 70, of 211 Perry Road, Armuchee, GA, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, in a local hospital.

Mr. Bostick was born in High Point, NC, on June 5, 1937, the son of the late Samuel Bostick and Beulah Covington Bostick. He lived in Sarasota, FL for fifteen years and then moved to Rome in 1989. Mr. Bostick was a member of Church of the Cross in Sarasota, FL and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from General Telephone Company as an installer. Mr. Bostick loved fishing, playing poker, listening to books on tapes, and watching western movies. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bostick is preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Bostic.

Mr. Bostick is survived by his wife, Fay Bennett Bostick of Armuchee, to whom he was married on February 14, 1974; four sons, David Bostick of Tampa, FL, James Samuel Bostick of Armuchee, Larry Ammons Bostick and his partner, Ken Bowker of Bradenton, FL; and William Harold Bostick and his wife, Dana of Rome; a daughter, Alice Fay Higginbotham of Armuchee; eleven granddaughters, three great-granddaughters; and two great-grandsons. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 4:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Pastor Glen Clonts officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion conducting military rites.

Mr. Bostick will remain in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as active pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home on Saturday by 3:30 P.M.: Matthew Sawyer, John Sawyer, Jaycee McAllister, Mike Leach, Robert Fowler, and Bradford Bray. The honorary pallbearer will be Bart McGullion.
