James Wilson Fowler, 80, of Dallas passed away Friday, September 26, 2008 at his residence. Born February 15, 1928 in Cartersville, he was the son of the late James Zachariah Fowler and the late Lillie Jane Hufstetler. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Kip Wilson Fowler; his brother, Leonard Fowler; and his sister, Ruth Massey.
Wilson had retired on disability as a result of a stroke in 1983 from Naval Air Station Atlanta in Marietta as a pipe fitter and welder. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during WW II in Atsugi, Japan during the end of the war. Wilson was also a member of Brown�s Chapel Baptist Church in Kennesaw.
Survivors include his wife, Fannie Ghann Fowler of Dallas; his son and daughter-in-law, Gary W. and Wanda Fowler of Cartersville; his granddaughter and her husband, Krista and Adam Mayfield of White; his great-grandson, Kipton Mayfield of White; his sister, Helen Griffith of Cartersville; his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Fowler of Cartersville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 2008 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Carlton Rogers and Rev. Thomas Ghann officiating. Burial with military honors provided by American Legion Carl Boyd Post 42 will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Sam Smith, Robert Beeman, Larry Burns, Jerry Welchel, John Fleming, and Edward Vaughn. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers are requested to meet at the funeral home by 2:15 p.m. Sunday.
The family will receive friends from 6 � 8 p.m. Saturday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services and may be contacted at the residence of Gary and Wanda Fowler, 1296 Jones Mill Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
