James Hazelwood, a beloved resident of Cartersville, GA, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on August 4, 1946, James led a full and vibrant life marked by love for family, passion for hobbies, and dedication to work.

A dedicated family man, James is survived by his cherished wife of 56 years, Barbara, his loving daughter Pamela (Shane) Worsham, and his treasured grandson, Brandon James Worsham. He also leaves behind his brother, Emory Hazelwood, his sister Marie Clark (Patrick), several nieces and nephews, and a special lifelong friend Jimmy Woods, with whom he shared a 65-year friendship. James is predeceased by his parents, J.W. Hazelwood and Delora Archer Hazelwood.

James found joy and fulfillment in simple pleasures. He was a passionate hunter and fisherman, qualities that underscored his deep appreciation and love for the outdoors. An avid drag racing enthusiast, he relished the thrill and camaraderie that came with the sport. Professionally, James took pride in his work, driving his own dump truck for many years, impacting the lives of many along the way.

A testament to his warm spirit, James will be fondly remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, loyalty, and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew him. James was a member of the Adairsville Church on the Squire.

Services to celebrate the life of James Hazelwood will be held on Tuesday, August 4, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with Shane Bramblett and Adam Toole officiating. Following the service, burial will take place at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects during the visitation on Monday, August 3, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tony Hufstetler, Troy Hufstetler Jr., Olin Floyd, Lorell Wright, Joseph Webb, and Eric Hazelwood. Honorary pallbearers include Seth Miller and Avery Riseden.
