James Johnson

April 8, 1930 — February 14, 2009

Mr. James Hulen �Brown Eyes� Johnson, 78, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend was called home Saturday, February 14, 2009 by his heavenly Father following several months of illness. A lifelong resident of Bartow County, he was born April 8, 1930 and was the son of the late General James Johnson and the late Pauline Duncan Johnson. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ramsey Johnson and Bill Johnson; his sisters, Adlene Channell and Lorena Channell; and his children, Lee Johnson, Marcella Johnson, Franklin Johnson, Michael Johnson, and Deborah Rutledge.



James was better known to all as �Brown Eyes� and worked most of his life in sheet rock work. Dedicated to always giving the best at whatever he set out to do, he loved to work hard, loved to go fishing, and was an avid gardener.



James also proudly served his country during the Korean War. A veteran of the United States Army, he was wounded twice while serving in Korea and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantry Badge.



He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Deloris Johnson; his children and their spouses, Joel and Beverly Johnson, Charlene and Stuart Honea, Donna and Larry Salts, Becky and Don Massey, Teresa and Stephen Burch, Billy and Melissa Brake, Patty Brake, Brenda O�Dell, Debbie and Freddie Carr, and Rosie and Willard Busby; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special neighbors, Karl and Sonya Mosley, Bobby and Jennifer Debus and their son, Luke; and his beloved dog, Penny.



Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2009 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Grover Hilliard officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.



Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Chappell, Phillip O�Dell, Anthony Shuler, Eric West, Carl Mosley, and Stuart Honea. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday.



The family will receive friends from 6 � 9 p.m. Monday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
