James Pendley

Mr. James Newton Pendley, 90, of Cartersville, passed from this life Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Maple Ridge Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Tilton, Georgia, February 18, 1922, he was the son of the late Roy Pendley and the late Jewell Ramsey Pendley. A decorated WWII veteran, James served with honor and received an Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, a Good Conduct Medal AR 600-68, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star and a WWII Victory Medal. James was retired from Pendley Heating and Air Conditioning. He was an avid fisherman and loved to camp and fish with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed going to family reunions and WWII reunions.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Towery Pendley; his brother, Lawrence Pendley; his step-children, Pat and Harry Gilbert and Eugene and Janice Towery; his grandsons, Clyde and James Gilbert, Eli, Derek and Joel Towery; 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2012 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
