James Pittard

James D. "Bo" Pittard, 93, of Cartersville passed away Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the Cartersville Medical Center. Born July 27, 1914 in Cassville, he was the son of the late James Pittard and the late Ollie Strozier Pittard. Bo had retired from civil service employment as a senior accountant at Ft. Gillem in Atlanta.
Bo was a grassroots philosopher and sage. He loved literature and reading. Bo was also a published author, spinner and historian, and he was loved by young people.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Martha Pittard of Cartersville; his son, Thomas Pittard of San Mateo, California; his sister, Betty Kennedy of Cassville; his granddaughter, Josalyn Scanlan of California; and his great-grandson, Tyler Scanlan.
Funeral services will be held privately for the family only. Private burial services will follow in the family plot in Cassville Cemetery.
